Facility Design

American Community Enrichment helps the Quinaults  obtain and manage a Design and Engineering Grant for a Facility that manufactures fuel pellets from wood slash chips.
BioMass is a renewable energy source that is biological material from living or recently living organisms (such as trees) which is burned to produce energy – taking carbon out of the atmosphere while growing and returning it as it is burned. This maintains a “closed loop” carbon cycle.

Fuel Pellet Manufacturing Facility Design and Engineering

A Grant has been approved for the Quinault Indian Nation Pellet Facility Engineering & Design.  The Quinault Indian Nation (QIN) with the assistance of American Community Enrichment (501C-3) recently completed a Pellet Manufacturing Feasibility Study (phase 3) that concluded a pellet mill can be an economically viable business in the Taholah area and that it should be pursued not only to provide employment but also to reduce both pollution and reliance on fossil fuel. The Pellet Facility Engineering and Design phase is funded by QIN and a Federal Grant from the US Forest Service.

This helps create needed jobs, reduces dependence on fossil fuels and saves on high heating costs

The Biomass project included concept development, grant writing, project management, community education, PR and consulting. American Community Enrichment will continue to work with the Quinaults until the program is fully implemented. ACE performs the work under a contract with the Quinault Indian Nation.

Additional Benefits:

  • Reduce hazardous fuels and improve forest health on National Forest System and other forest lands.
  • Reduce the cost of forest management on all land types
  • Promote economic and environmental health of the Quinault Nation
